Owner/Supervisor/Funeral Director

Joseph is a licensed funeral director in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida. He has owned and operated the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc. in Stroudsburg for over 30 years. Joe attended Stroudsburg High School and graduated in 1970 from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.

A dedicated and caring professional, Joe has been providing local families with compassionate and diligent services for over 50 years.  His licensure in multiple states allows him to assist families with out-of-town services and burials.

He is currently an active member of the Church of St. Luke in Stroudsburg, the Knights of Columbus, Father Butler Council, and has held memberships with both the National and Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Associations.  He is a former member of the Rotary Club of Stroudsburg, Stroudsburg Fire Department Chemical Company, and Chairman of the festival for the Church of St. Luke.  In his spare time, he enjoys going to the beach in New Jersey and Florida.

Nuria Aguero-Gayer

Nuria Aguero-Gayer

Funeral Director

Nuria graduated from the Funeral Service Education Program at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem and served as secretary for the Sigma Phi Sigma Mortuary Fraternity. She is a licensed Pennsylvania Funeral Director and crematory operator.

Her passion for serving her community began early when she volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician and later worked as a paramedic in the West End.  She volunteered with the Marshalls Creek Fire Company as a firefighter and EMT.  Earning an Associates in Applied Science, she also worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant prior to changing careers.

Nuria, affectionately known to her friends as “Pepsi,” is a former coach for Girls on the Run, Pocono.  She is an active member of St. Matthew’s Parish in East Stroudsburg where she serves as an adult altar server, a Eucharistic Minister, and a lector.  She is proud to be part of the Pocono Irish-American Club and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #319 in East Stroudsburg.

Appreciative of her Latin heritage and fluent in Spanish, she brings much-needed skills to communicate and assist Spanish-speaking families efficiently and effectively in their time of need.  Her personality and caring nature bring comfort to all she serves. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her amazing children.

Funeral Director

Michael graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a Masters in Biology and later completed studies at Northampton Community College’s Funeral Education Program. He obtained his Pennsylvania Funeral Director's license in 2023.  Michael is a life-long resident of Stroudsburg and an active member at the Church of St. Luke in Stroudsburg.

Michael’s empathy comes through in his daily interactions with client families as well as with anyone he comes in contact with.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his beautiful daughter.

Andrew Pula

Andrew Pula

Administrator/Funeral Attendant

Andrew graduated from Stroudsburg High School and later attended Northampton Community College.  A life-long resident of Stroudsburg, he serves as administrator and funeral attendant at the funeral home.  He is an active member of the Church of St. Luke in Stroudsburg.

Andrew was very active in helping with the festival for the church for many years and enjoys attending bible study with good friends.  He is a NASCAR enthusiast and collector of model cars.  When he’s not working, he loves spending time with his beloved dogs, Harley and Ivan.
