Trevor J. Ion, 92, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Gino Merli Veteran Center in Scranton, PA. He was the husband of Shriley (Krech) Epstein. Born in Anyox, British Columbia, he was the son of John and Fannie (Ojala) Ion.
Trevor was residing in the Stroudsburg area for 43 years, prior to that, he was a summer resident. He was employed as a New York City Police officer for many years and was of the Lutheran faith. Trevor was a Navy veteran having served during the Korean War as a radio man on the Eugene Greene Destroyer. He loved poetry and enjoyed the woods and trees and all the people he knew, his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his children: John Ion and his wife, Lori, of Erie, PA; Christine Ion of Burdett, NY; Kenneth Ion and his wife, Ella, of NYC; stepchildren: April Perkins of Conway, SC; Jay Moyer and his wife, Theresa, of Brodheadsville, PA; Paul Godnig of Staten Island, NY; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Jertter.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the time of the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to the Gino J.
