Sickner Milfort, age 72, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in East Stroudsburg, surrounded by his closest family. Born on November 15, 1953, in St. Marc, Haiti, Sickner was the son of Arnauld and Immacula Milfort. Sickner was the oldest of 11 siblings. Marieflor, Lutece, Arnoux, Ralph, Gina, Emmelyne, Jean-Eddy, Edna, Arnauld Jr., and Sheppard. Sickner earned a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Institut National de Formation Professionnelle (INFP). His dedication to education and national development led him to hold many titles such as Director of Centre Pilote and Chief of Service. It was here that he played a pivotal role in training teachers and educators responsible for vocational education across multiple regions of Haiti. Through this work, he helped strengthen technical education and expand opportunities for countless students and professionals. This work allowed him to study at the University of Paris, France, Columbia, and Cuba. In the period following the presidency of Jean-Bertrand Aristide, Sickner also contributed his expertise to the training of soldiers as part of efforts to reestablish Haiti’s disbanded military.
Of all the accomplishments during his time at the INFP, the most important accomplishment was meeting the love of his life, Veronique. Sickner and Veronoque were married on July 11th, 1988. They would be blessed with two children, Ckrisen and Shainah. After relocating his family to the United States in 1994, Sickner joined them in 1996. Upon arrival to the United States, Sickner was offered opportunities to continue governmental work, but declined, choosing to focus instead on raising a family. Subsequently, Sickner found meaningful work at King’s Grocery Store as an overnight inventory manager. In this role, he oversaw all overnight operations of the store, bringing the same discipline, leadership, and attention to detail that defined his professional life in Haiti.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sickner lived life with joy, humor, and generosity. He was always ready with a joke or a playful prank and loved a good conversation—especially one that allowed him to share his wisdom, advice, or technical insight with anyone willing to listen. Energetic and deeply helpful by nature, he was someone people naturally turned to for guidance.
Sickner carried this joy into his love of Travel, where he engaged in adventurous activities such as snorkeling, horseback riding, and swimming with Dolphins, and most recently Scuba Diving. Sickner found great happiness in life’s simple pleasures: playing the drums, following soccer, fishing with his buddies, and, most of all, listening to what he proudly considered real music the classic rock serenades of bands like AC/DC, the Pink Floyd, and Def Leppard. Sickner and Veronique enjoyed hosting BBQs where People came from far and wide to taste Sickner's famous BBQ Ribs. Sickner even approached childhood games with the strategy and wit of a complex mechanical problem. This made him a beloved companion to his grandson Micah, as together they
engineered Lego creations, built elaborate block structures, and tackled other strategic endeavors with imagination and care.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters: Ckrisen Milligan and her husband Donte of Willingboro, NJ and Shainah Milfort of Raleigh, NC, grandchildren; Micah and Isabella
and his siblings: Jean-Eddy, Shepherd, Edna, Arnauld Jr, Arnoux, Ralph, Emmelyne, Gina, Lutece and Marieflor.
