Sheryl Ann Susan Spinelli, also known as Shivvy, 65, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania transitioned peacefully on the morning of March, 10, 2026, in the beautiful Pocono Mountains surrounded by her family. Born January 18, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sheryl was the daughter of the late John Spinelli and Patricia Kobolski, and the granddaughter of Anna and Richard Artuso.
Sheryl began her career as a medical assistant working with family physicians before going on to serve as an office manager with Temple Health, where she spent more than 30 years supporting both patients and her teams.
Shivvy loved Elton John, Jack in the Box tacos, and being the manager of whatever project she had her hubby working on. Those who knew her will remember her kindness, unwavering support and encouragement, and gentle spirit. Above all, she was a devoted mother who found great joy in supporting her children and helping them grow into the people they are today, and she lovingly extended that same love, care, and support to many others in her family.
She is survived by her husband and life partner of 52 years, George Bartkus; her children, Jordan Bartkus, Brittany Bartkus, and Hayley Bartkus; her dogs, Toula and Taki; her granddogs, Curry, Lattaio, CharDee, and MacDennis; and her grandcat Red. Sheryl was preceded in transition by her parents and her brother, Mark Spinelli.
The family invites those who wish to honor Sheryl’s memory to support her daughter as she runs in her memory in the 2026 New York City Marathon with the National Gray Nation Endurance Team to benefit glioblastoma research. Those wishing to contribute may contact Hayley Bartkus at hobrdms@gmail.com for donation information.
Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
