Sheila C. Caschera, 76, of Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvania died Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Bangor, Pennsylvania. Born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Remo and Catherine Caschera.
Sheila was a graduate of the Marywood Seminary and received her Masters from Marywood University and later became Montessori certified. She loved the Montessori philosophy of respecting the children in her well-prepared classroom where she focused on hands-on learning and real-world skills. Sheila was a member of the IHM Community for 25 years, and as a member of that community taught at many schools both in New York and in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties. She taught religious education at Our Lady of Victory Church and spent her last working years teaching at Monsignor McHugh Elementary School. She enjoyed tutoring students after school embodying “Be the change you want to see in this world,” extending herself whenever needed. Sheila was also a great basketball player and would engage in games with her students at recess. She would also care for her mother and her Aunt Gracie at the end of their lives. Sheila loved to do random acts of kindness just for the pleasure of taking care of others. It was an honor and a gift to have known her.
Sheila is survived by dear friends: Dr. Patty Hannon; Denise Brosnan; Mike Vitucci; Pete and Evelyn Rivera; many relatives in the Caschera, Fogerty, and Pagana families; numerous beloved former students and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers Remo; Richard; Daniel; and Stephen.
Fr. Richard Czachor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, 327 Cherry Lane Road, Tannersville, PA 18372.
