Ronald “Ron” Leroy VanGorder, 72, of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St. Lukes Hospital in Bartonsville, Pennsylvania. Born in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late George, Sr. and Virginia (Houck) VanGorder.
Ron lived in Monroe County most of his life, living through the flood in East Stroudsburg in 1955. In his youth, he played baseball with the Stroudsburg Little League and later football for Stroudsburg High School proudly playing for the undefeated team of 1971. Ron worked as a Station Master for the Stroudsburg Gas Company before his retirement. He loved golfing and gaming, staying up late hours to open the door to the next level in Tomb Raider. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers. Ron kept to himself mostly but made an impact on everyone he met. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Ron is survived by his daughters: Kyra Ryan and her husband, Patrick; Karissa Watson and her husband, Ryan; grandchildren: Kaylee and Patrick Ryan; Ava Watson; siblings: Donna Healey and her husband, Jim, of Corpus Christi, TX; Eddie VanGorder and his wife, Linda, of Salt Lake City, UT; George and Susan VanGorder of Stroudsburg, PA; dear friends: Steve Martz and Nick Wells, and many dear friends along the way.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Christian Life Assembly, 2209 W Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations be made to Christian Life Assembly.
