Rodney Luis Patterson, 58, of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania transitioned Sunday, January 18, 2026, at his home with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer. Born in Bronx, New York, he was a son of the late Julius Luis Patterson and Jacqueline Blakey.

Rodney was born and raised in Bronx, New York Throggs Neck housing projects attending PS 72 and later JHS 101 Henry Bruckner School.  He moved to Albany, New York then to the Poconos later in life to live with his sister after being diagnosed with a terminal illness. He was very outgoing and was well-known in his neighborhood. He was always there to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends, especially the older population, fixing things and doing odd jobs to help. Rodney loved to make people laugh and was always cracking jokes. He was a sharp dresser and had a sneaker collection that couldn’t be beat, ensuring they were spotless at all times. Above all, Rodney loved his children and worked hard in life to care for them.

Rodney is survived by his children: Latique Patterson; Indaiah Patterson; Rodney Patterson; Michael Patterson; Jacqueline Patterson; siblings: Lisa Patterson; Vanessa Patterson; Beryl Michelle Patterson, Julia Blakey;; best friends: Keith Luke; Glen Jenkins; Arthur Neville; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Howard Blakey; Deborah Blakey; Michael Blakey; and Anthony Patterson.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
