Renate Haufmann, 98, of Glendale, New York and Scotrun, passed away, Saturday, January 1, 2022 in her Glendale home. She was the loving wife of the late John Haufmann with whom she shared 47 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1995.
Born in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Erhard and Marie (Thurn) Munich.
Renate worked as a school aide in the New York City public schools for over 30 years. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling back and forth to her Scotrun home. A devout member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Tannersville, she enjoyed assisting with the annual bazaar preparations. Renate loved to cook for her family and have everyone enjoy a meal around her dining room table. Family was everything to her and she especially took joy in being with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to have known her.
She is survived by her son; Jeffrey Haufmann and his wife, Lorraine of Bethpage, Long Island; daughters: Andrea Ferranti of Middle Village, New York; Denise Brosnan and her husband, Shawn, of Scotrun; grandchildren: Danielle, Christine, Jeffrey, Qye, William and Kristin Haufmann, Lisa and Joe Kistinger, Stephen and Rosa Ferranti, Caitlin and Megan Brosnan; great-grandchildren Brooke, Adam, Michael, Hailey, Jason, Briella, Julia, Kaelyn, Gianna, and Ava.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 14, at 12 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, 327 Cherry Lane Road, Tannersville, PA 18372. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery.
