Sometime during the warm, sunny hours of Friday, August 29, 2025, Rebekah Lynn Rushin, a darling daughter and the mother of four beautiful babies went on ahead of us around the River’s Bend, just out of our sight, to meet her Father God. Her heart of gold, hushed, was finally at rest.
Rebekah was born on the happy day of January 23, 1987, during a major blizzard in East Stroudsburg,Pennsylvania. She was born to Linda Jean (Mutchler) Rushin and John Joseph Rushin. Her home was in Henryville, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Pocono Mountain East High School in Swiftwater, Pennsylvania and later attended Northampton County Community College in Reeders, Pennsylvania.
Rebekah loved and was happiest being with her children, Star Isabella, 13; Sophia, 7; and Jeremiah John, 6; and of course, talking about her sweet Gabriel James, 4. Rebekah loved her three brothers and her sister, as well as her entire family, fiercely. She was an animal lover, especially of her baby kitty whom she named “Cat,” and would take in any stray.
We remember Rebekah for a rich sense of humor and great facility in expressing her emotions with pen and paper. She was also a skilled artist with pencil, charcoal, paint, and flower arranging. Rebekah was a homemaker and was a partner in Air BnB interior decoration while enrolled in college courses. She also had a talent for creating unique culinary fusion dishes. Finally, she’s remembered for her selflessness, for sharing anything she had.
A few weeks before Rebekah’s passing, she offered up this quote: “Tonight, I will not stress over the things I cannot control. I’m giving my fears and all my worries to God, and I’ll let Him take over. I will sleep in His peace and rest. Amen.”
Rebekah is survived by her daughters: Star Isabella Maldonado, 13, Sophia Maldonado, 7; sons Jeremiah John Ricken-Rushin, 6, and Gabriel James Ricken, 4, her mother: Linda Rushin Von Milla and stepfather, Hans Von Milla; brothers John Rushin and his wife, Jenna, of Douglassville, PA; Joshua Rushin of Henryville, PA; Aaron Rushin and his wife, Kelly, of Exeter, PA; sister: Kimberly Coolbaugh and her partner, Tom Moult, of Taylor, PA. and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Rebekah was predeceased by her father, John Joseph Rushin, and her grandparents: Donald and Star Mutchler and Joseph and Bernice Rushin.
There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 12:00PM at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Family will receive friends from 10:00 until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pula Funeral Home for the purpose of setting up an educational trust fund for Rebekah’s children.
