Moraima Nunez

Moraima Nunez, 85, lovingly known as Mamá, of Buskill, PA went to be at peace in heaven on March 10th, 2023.

Mamá was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic on July 18th, 1937 to Vitelbo Arias & Dalida Morales de Arias. Mamà was indeed an angel on earth who devoted thirteen years to serving as a Catholic Nun. She shared her love of God with others through her generous heart and loving embrace. In 1970, she married the love of her life, Rafael Nuñez (1932-2006), with whom she found her true purpose: starting a loving family. She was adored by not only her family but by millions of people around the world.

In her last few years, Mamá became a successful 85-year-old TikTok sensation with her Granddaughter, sharing their bond and love for fashion. Together they inspired a community of over 200,000 followers with numerous viral videos and millions of views. Mamá was published and featured on CNN, MTV, The U.S. Sun, and more. Her infectious spirit even gained the attention of famous celebrities such as Nicki Minaj, City Girls, and more. Though she has left this world, her legacy will always remind others to have fun, to be kind, and above all, to be very fashionable. 

Moraima is survived by her daughter Maribel Nuñez, and son Francisco A. Nunez, son-in-law Luis Portes, and four grandchildren: Stephanie De Peña, Leslie Portes, Luis A. Portes, & Violet Rose Nuñez.

A viewing will take place on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 North 9" Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. A blessing service will take place at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Stroudsburg Cemetery.
