Matthew Joseph Curran passed away on February 27th 2026
Matthew was born November 16, 1933, in Farmingdale, LI, NY, to Viola E. (Young) and Matthew A. Curran. He graduated in 1951 from Stroudsburg High School and 1960 from East Stroudsburg University. He served in the US Army for 3 years during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1955. He taught high school science for 2 years before entering industry for employment that sent he and his entire family to Hong Kong and Singapore establishing manufacturing facilities. He joined East Stroudsburg University in 1972 and retired as Director of Facilities after 25 years in 1997. He enjoyed living and traveling full time in a recreational vehicle visiting all 49 continental states, Canada and Mexico. He also traveled to Hawaii and 21 countries on 4 continents.
Matthew was a member of St. Matthew’s Parish, East Stroudsburg, PA. He was a member of the East Stroudsburg University Alumni Assoc., a past member the East Stroudsburg Elks and the American Legion. He was also a member of several motor home clubs including the Escapees, Good Sam, Family Motor Coach Association, Passport America and two membership RV Park systems.
Matthew was predeceased by his loving wife and life partner of 51 years, 5 months, Annetta C. DeSanto in May of 2007 and by his son Kevin T. of Broken Arrow, OK in January 2005. He is survived by; his son Matthew J. Jr. and wife, Karen Bakke of Broken Arrow, OK, his son Timothy A. and his wife, Diana Finnerty of Northampton, PA, his daughter Anita M. Pecoraro and her husband, Robert of Fort Myers, FL, his son Joseph P. and his wife, Janice Sandt of Stroud Township, PA, and by his daughter-in-law Melodie Curran Evans of Broken Arrow, He is also survived by fifteen Grandchildren, sixteen Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew's Parish, 78 Ridgeway Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301, followed by interment at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg, PA. The Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 has been entrusted with his arrangements.
