Marion Schollhammer Obituary

Marion B. Schollhammer 89, of Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday Nov 1, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hamilton Township, she was the daughter of
Albert and Anna (Blair) Schollhammer.

Marion is survived by her longtime companion, George Hopkins and siblings; Annmarie Berger-Vittorio and her husband Louis of Bethlehem, Rose Schoch of Snydersville, and Henry Schollhammer of Bangor. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Marion was the widow of Louis J Pilas and was preceded in death by siblings: Florence Hughes, Helen Rehm, Dorothy Douglas and John Schollhammer.

Marion was a lifelong resident of the Stroudsburg area. She worked various jobs over the years including, cross country tractor trailer driver for the CR England company. In her youth, Marion and her beloved horse, Danny Boy, packed up and went west. She worked as a cowgirl and ranch hand in several western states. She also worked as a nurse’s aide at Pleasant Valley Manor.

Marion loved horses. She was an avid trail rider, and was well known in the local horse community. Marion was always there when someone needed help. Many friends and family could tell you a story of the kindness and generosity that Marion showed them. She was a straight shooter and would tell you just what was on her mind. She possessed a quick wit and a great sense of humor. Marion and George were well known at local diners, for the comedy and entertainment they provided.

Marion loved her Catholic faith. She was a very devoted, longtime member of St. Luke’s church in Stroudsburg. Marion was a one of a kind beautiful, and wonderful person, who will be dearly
missed by all those who loved her.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov 8, 2025 at 11:00 am St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the Mass, Fr Micheal Quinnan will serve as celebrant. Joseph J Pula Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The burial will be held at Custard’s Cemetery in Bartonsville at a later time. A private service will be held for the family, at that time.
