Marie B. (Bova) Caponi

    Marie B. Caponi, 90, of Stroudsburg, Pa. passed away quietly in her sleep on Thursday, January 21,2021 at her home. She survived her two husbands, John R. Girgenti, who passed away in 1971 and Frank Caponi who passed away in 1995. 

Born in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Ada Bova. Marie moved from Brooklyn, where she grew up and raised her family, to the Stroudsburg area where she lived for the past 27 years. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church of Bushkill.

Marie is survived by two sons: Richard H. Girgenti and his wife Catherine of Pound Ridge, N.Y. and John Girgenti and his wife Jessie of Lorton, Virginia, a brother, Vincent Bova, of Long Beach, CA. and four grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher, Alexandra and Elkin.

There will be a viewing on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 9-10:00am at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc. 23 N. 9th.St.Stroudsburg, Pa. 18360 followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30am at St. John’s Catholic Church 5171 Milford Rd. East Stroudsburg, Pa. 18302 with Fr. Gregory A. Reichlen as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Long Island National Cemetery Farmingdale, New York.
