Our beloved Maria Del Pilar Diaz of Queens, NY joined God’s angels in heaven Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the age of 78. Born in the Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of the late Macario Santana and Gloria Fermin. Maria was the widow of Jose Joaquin Dario Diaz who passed away in 2002. Maria was preceded in death by her older brother Rafael Santana.
Maria was a member of Incarnation Catholic Church Queens, NY. She was faithful in loving the Lord with all her heart, and with all her soul, and with all her mind. She loved her neighbor as herself. She prayed incessantly, and meditated on God’s Word.
Maria was a devoted mother and grandmother. She delighted in the time she shared with her family.
Maria was a homemaker for most of her life. She was an amazing cook who not only filled the stomachs but the souls of those she loved.
She made her kitchen percolate with smiles with the aroma of her famous cafesito.
Maria was an avid walker. Her strides were short but her steps were numerous. Some might even say she was a walking computer. Maria had a fascinating memory. She remembered everything and everyone. She enjoyed word searches, puzzles, and coloring.
Maria, our angel on earth, was absolutely a straight shot to heaven.
Maria will be profoundly missed by her family and all those who had the honor of knowing her.
Maria is survived by her 9 children, 21 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 4 nieces, 5 nephews, her brother Fausto Santana, and her sister Altagracia Santana.
