Luis Velilla, 75, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, died Friday, August 25, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Rosa (Torres) Velilla with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Ramon Torres and Hipolita Lebron.
Luis proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War where he was an aircraft mechanic and a sharp shooter. His passion for airplanes and other vehicles continued into his hobbies when he would make model airplanes, boats, cars and trains paying special attention to every detail. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Luis loved his family and he loved every aspect of life; from watching NASCAR racing, enjoying an ice-cold beer while fishing, or dancing to salsa music. He was a prankster and his antics would make everyone laugh.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children: George Bahamonde and his wife, Aurora Reyes; Magdalena “Maddy” DeAcosta and her husband, Gamalier; Christina Carpenter and her husband, Brian; Alexander Velilla; Edwin DelValle and his wife, Theresa; many grandchildren with one on the way; and many great grandchildren.
There will be no services at this time. Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc.,23 North 9 th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
