Laura Russotto passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 94. She was a resident at Gluco Lodge Personal Care Home, Stroudsburg, PA, since May 2022.
Laura was the loving wife of the late Frank Russotto, who passed away in 2017, and with whom she shared almost 58 years of marriage. In her words, “He was the love of my life.”Born in Sorrento, Italy, to the late Luigi and Filomena Cuccaro, she immigrated to the U.S. in 1948. Laura was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank Cuccaro, Josephine Mondanaro,Carmelina Pollio, and Ernest Cuccaro.
Laura worked as a seamstress for several line shops in Bayonne and Jersey City from 1948 until she was hired in the mid-1970s by Jersey City State College (now The University of Jersey City)where she did janitorial work. She then transferred to The A. Harry Moore School in Jersey City, NJ, where she was employed as an elevator operator for many years, retiring in 1993. She and her husband moved to The Poconos to live out their retirement years and were later joined by their daughter and two grandchildren. Laura was a devout Catholic and parishioner of The Church of St. John in East Stroudsburg, PA.
Laura is survived by her only child, Vivian Russotto-Cotter and her husband, Thomas; her grandchildren, Matthew Gelbke-Russotto, Jessica Gelbke, Thomas Cotter, Jr. and his wife, Nicole, Daniel Cotter, and Jillian Cotter, along with 5 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA. Funeral services will be held at St. Matthew’s Parish in East Stroudsburg, entombment to follow at Prospect Cemetery. At the family’s request, funeral services will be private. Memorial remembrances can be made to The Church of St. John, 5171 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18302.
At this time, Laura’s family would like to thank the staff at Gluco Lodge for the care, respect and friendship shown to her while she was a resident. Thanks also goes to Affinity Care forproviding her with the compassionate hospice services she needed over the last year.
