Kim (Olivet) Markou, 61, of Tannersville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Theodore J. Markou, with whom she shared 22 years of marriage. Born in Centereach, New York, she was the daughter of Dr. Rosemarie E. Olivet of Tannersville, Pa. and the late Lawrence P. Olivet.
Kim was raised in Mendham, NJ prior to residing in the Tannersville area for the past 22 years. Aside from her family, she was passionate about her animals, particularly any strays that wandered near her home. She loved film production, jewelry design, and any form of art. Raised in the Catholic church, her empathy for all living things, compassion for others, and overwhelming generosity were evidenced by the many charitable organizations she donated to on a regular basis.
In addition to her mother, Rosemarie, and husband, Theodore, she is survived by two sons; Henry Harman of Blairstown, NJ, and George Markou of Tannersville, Pa.; sister Renee (Olivet) Hipple and her husband Anthony J. Hipple, Jr. of Blairstown, N.J., and their children, Dr. Natasha Chase and her husband, Edward J. Hoffman, Jr. (their children, Eddie, Savannah and Madison), and Dr. Jordan Chase and his wife Laura (their son, Ronan); and Rebecca Ryker of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A memorial mass will be held at The Church of St. Luke (818 Main Str., Stroudsburg, PA 18360) on Saturday Sept. 26, 2026, at 11:00am with Fr. Michael Quinnan officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30am until the time of the mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, they ask for donations be made to your favorite charity in Kim’s memory.
The Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc. 23 N. 9th. St. Stroudsburg, PA is in charge of the arrangements.
