Kathleen Claeys, daughter of Nicholas and Miriam Werth, grew up in Keyport, NJ, where she was member of the Catholic Parish of Saint Joseph and its school, and later, a student at Keyport High School, where she met her husband of fifty-five years, Thomas. She was a long-time resident of Toms River, NJ and recently of Delaware Water Gap, Pa. Kathleen had a long career with H&R Block and owned and operated its franchise in Whiting, NJ, where she aided countless senior citizens and retirees. Her talent as a cook, baker and gifted crochet artist were well-known to all of her friends and family. Generous with her money, time, and talent, “Kath” (to her many friends) gifted presents of toys, clothing, food, and money to those in need, especially children, throughout the year. She loved her parents and her sister, Sharon, who resides in Pittsfield, Ma., and she had a fondness for German Shepherd dogs. But, her two sons, Thomas, Jr. and Robert were joy of her and her husband’s life. In 1995, Kathleen’s son Robert was tragically killed in an automobile accident at only twenty-five, whose loss she bravely and dearly felt every day since. Kathleen was widowed three months ago on August 7, 2021 when her beloved husband Tom was called to God after a difficult struggle with heart disease. She is survived by her son Thomas and his wife Pamela who reside Delaware Water Gap, Pa.
There will be a memorial mass for Kathleen at St. Matthew’s Church in East Stroudsburg, Pa. on November 27, 2021 at 9:30am.
