Jungdo "Jay" Chung

Jungdo “Jay” Chung, 86, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bartonsville.  He was the husband of Ester Moon with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Seoul, Korea, he was a son of the late (parent’s names here).

Jay came to the United States to study at Boston College Seminary. While at the seminary, he returned to Korea to visit family and met his future wife, changing his life plans.  Jay and Ester married and moved to the United States almost 50 years ago and settled in the Pocono area 30 years ago. He enjoyed fishing and loved to work. A man of many talents, Jay worked in real estate, as an auto mechanic, then later at his family business. He was a respectable man who always kept his word. You could be assured that he followed through with anything he said.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his children: Steven Chung and his wife, Sunghui Woo; John Chung and his wife, Vivian; six grandchildren; and many loyal customers that he treated as friends.

There will be no services at this time. Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
