Jeaneen A. Griffin, 87, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025. She was the beloved widow of John (Jack) S. Griffin, who preceded her in death in 2008. Born in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Jeaneen was the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Roland) Schneider.
Jeaneen was a lifelong resident of the Stroudsburg area and dedicated more than 30 years to teaching elementary education in the East Stroudsburg School District. Her passion for learning and commitment to her students left a lasting impact on generations of children. She was a devoted member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Stroudsburg.
Jeaneen is survived by her loving family: Children: Teri DeHart of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; Joseph L. Griffin and his wife Nanda of Florence, Arizona; Rose Halvorsen and her husband Jim of Ocean City, Maryland; Jacquelyn (Jackie) Mathiesen and her husband Jim of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; Stephen G. Griffin and co-parent Abigail of Asheville, North Carolina;grandchildren: Danielle Weiss, Aubrey Rachelle, Kate Sage (husband Patrick), Amy Halvorsen, Jim Mathiesen (wife Gabby), Josh Mathiesen, Zasha Griffin, Ruby Griffin, and Lex Griffin;great-grandchildren: Zach, Abigail, and Lilly Weiss; Mila Monson, Mazzy Frost; William and Noe Mathiesen; and Harper Sage; great-great-grandchildren: Bently Weiss and Sullivan Monson. She is also survived by her sister Bernadette Beury and husband Clyde, her brother Thomas Schneider and wife Margie, and many nieces and nephews. Jeaneen was preceded in death by her grandson William DeHart, grandson-in-law Benjamin Weiss, and siblings Fred Schneider and Mary Fritsch.
Jeaneen will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family, her lifelong commitment to education, and her deep faith. Her kindness and warmth touched all who knew her.
Private Catholic services will be held at the convenience of the family, with burial to follow in Laurelwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc., 23 N. 9th Street, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. A celebration of life will be held at 2PM, May 17, 2026, at the Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church, 915 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg PA 18360.
