James D. Lester

James D. Lester, 78, of Stroudsburg passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in St. Luke’s Hospital- Monroe Campus. Born in Germantown, PA he was the son of the late James M. and Rosalie (Harnett) Lester. James was the husband of Maureen (Lynch) Lester, with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage.

James was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. He grew up in South Hampton, PA and later moved to Stroudsburg. James attended Drexel University for postgrad and graduated with his Master’s Degree in Physics from Villanova University. He later went on to work as a physicist for the US Government, and Frankford Arsenal and Picatinny Arsenal.

In addition to his loving wife Maureen, James is survived by his son Thomas J. Lester and wife Heather Lester, PhD., and daughter Christine M. Lester. Along with his grandchildren; Jacob T. Lester and Kaitlyn Lester. James is preceded in death by his son James. J. Lester.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 818 Main St, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery, 901 Bryant St, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. The Joseph J Pula Funeral Home, Inc. 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 is assisting the family with arrangements.
