James E. Horn, 89, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday January 7, 2025. He was the loving husband of Loretta H. (Huber) Horn with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on January 9 of this year. Born in Lehighton, PA, he was the son of Wilbur and Bridget (Donegan) Horn.
Jim was a lifelong resident of the Stroudsburg area, moving here in 1960. He was employed in the Shipping and Receiving department of the Patterson-Kelly Company in East Stroudsburg, PA for 24 years and later for the Stroudsburg Area School District for 15 years. During his retirement, he was a poll worker for Stroud Township.
Jim was a very devout Catholic being a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Stroudsburg and was on the Festival Committee for over 40 years. Jim was also a US Navy veteran having served during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife Loretta, he is survived by his 4 children: Christopher Horn of Stroudsburg, PA., his partner Donna, Michael Horn and his wife Denise of Effort, PA., Maria Horn and her partner, Kevin and Stephen Horn both of Wooddale, PA., 5 grandsons: Derek and his partner, Alyssa, Adam and his partner Megan, Michael, Matthew and Jeremy and his wife Jasmine and 2 great granddaughters: Jaylie and Clementine and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was known for his kindness and generosity throughout the community. He loved gardening and sharing his lilac boughs and various vegetables. He enjoyed cooking and distributing homemade macaroni and cheese and chocolate peanut butter fudge to folks far and wide. His laughter was infectious and he loved spreading it. He was a good Christian, wonderful husband, father and grandfather! Jim will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday January 13, 2025, at 1:00pm at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 818 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA with Fr. Michael Quinnan as celebrant. Final interment will be in the Stroudsburg Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Sunday January 12, 2025, from 2-4:00pm at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc. 23 N. 9th St. Stroudsburg, PA. 18360.
