James J. Diana, affectionately known as JJ to those who were close to him, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 39 on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at his home in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
Born in Westwood, New Jersey, JJ was the beloved son of the late James and Angela Diana. He was a proud and dedicated Veteran who served our country honorably in the United States Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a full-time Automotive Technician for the NJ Army National Guard in Teaneck, NJ, he took great pride in his service and was deeply committed to his fellow soldiers, always ready to lend a helping hand.
JJ had a deep love for animals, considering them his true companions and friends. His special bond with his dog, Gotham, was something he cherished and described as a soulmate connection. Whether it was working on cars, making people laugh with his sharp wit, or lending an ear to a friend in need, JJ’s presence was a light in the lives of those around him.
He was happiest outdoors, whether it was hiking, growing plants, or simply taking in the beauty of nature. He had a surprisingly good singing voice and would often break into song, much to the delight of those around him. JJ also had a love for all things tech and always had a new toy or gadget to show off. From wall lights that pulsed to the beat of his music, to Alexa commands that controlled his home, dirt bikes, and his latest obsession, a drone he used to follow himself and Gotham around, capturing funny videos, he was always finding new ways to make life more exciting.
JJ’s kindness knew no bounds, he was always willing to help others, no matter the circumstances. His door was always open to friends in need, and he jokingly referred to his home as the “James J. Home for Displaced and Troubled Youth.” Whether someone needed a place to stay, a hot meal which was typically a microwaveable one, or just a listening ear, JJ welcomed them without hesitation, offering both comfort and laughter in their hardest moments.
He is survived by his sisters, Suzanne Gibson and her husband Jettie; Jessica Rose Diana; and his cherished nieces and nephews: Isobella, Adriel, Elias, Gabriel, Sophia, Gianna and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy and beloved niece, Arionna. His family and friends will forever remember him as a man who gave selflessly, loved deeply, and never failed to bring smiles and laughter.
Though he is no longer with us, JJ’s spirit will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love he left behind. His family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with those he loved, and that his memory will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him.
Gone but never forgotten, until we meet again JJ.
