Ms. Jacqueline Mae Huma also known as Jackie/Poochie was born on January 4, 1967, in Brooklyn NY to the late Isaac Grehm, Jr. of Plaquemine, Louisiana and Carol Grehm of Little Washington, North Carolina. On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Jackie was called home to be with her heavenly father.
Jacqueline graduated from Boys & Girls High School in 1986. After high school, she attended Borough Community College where she obtained her Nursing Assistant certification. She was a hard, dedicated worker at Woodhull hospital for many years as a telephone operator.
Jackie was a dedicated member of Pilgrim Church for many years. When she was no longer able to attend church in person she would watch services online. When not at work, church or PTA meetings at P.S. 229, you could find Jackie cooking, singing and most of all shopping. Jacqeline loved to be surrounded by family and friends just as much as they enjoyed being around her.
Jacqueline was married in June of 1997 to Bob Huma. From this union they had twins Jamal and Jamil. From mother to grandmother, there was no extent to what or where Jackie would go to be with them. Jackie became a resident of South Carolina in 2020 to be with her daughter and family until her illness forced her to relocate back to Pennsylvania. Jacqueline did not allow her illness to keep her down; she continued to be the outspoken, full of laughter, joy and a shopaholic (lol) we all knew and loved.
Left to cherish her loving memories are her three children: Jacquita Grant; Jamal Huma; Jamil Huma; son-in-law Ralph Grant; daughter-in-law Rhonda Huma; five grandchildren: Demetrius, Ja'keiro, Jashawn, Kyrin and Raya; three sisters: Patricia Grehm; Germaine Watts; Sandra Borden; two brothers: Keith Blackwell; Clifford Pender; brother-in-law Richard Borden; sister-in-law Gabriel, sister-in-law Latisho; aunts, uncles, nieces nephews, great nieces and great nephews, very close Friend Noggoi, and a host of family and friends. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents Isaac Grehm Jr. and Carol Faye Grehm; brother Charles Grehm; nephew Tranell Grehm and Brother-in-law LaRoy Watts.
There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to the time of service. Burial will follow at Stroudsburg Cemetery.
