Hugo “Pechugo” Alexander Bonilla, 58, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania died Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – East Stroudsburg. He was the loving husband of Jenny Nino-Bonilla with whom he shared almost 24 years of marriage. Born in San Salvador, El Salvador, he was a son of Dolores (Menjivar) Quintanilla and the late Ricardo Bonilla-Zaldania.
Hugo and his family moved to the Pocono area eight years ago from New York. He was an active member of St. Matthew’s Parish in East Stroudsburg. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Pechugo worked as a hybrid diesel technician for a bussing company. He enjoyed playing pool and rooting for the New York Giants and Yankees. A collector of many things, he prided himself on his extensively organized classic movie collection.
Along with his wife and mother, he is survived by his children: Jennyfer Bonilla, Jaelynn Bonilla, Jeremy Bonilla; godson Ricky Bonilla; siblings: Ricardo Bonilla and his wife, Wanda; Syndhya Wayman and her husband, Timothy; Lesley Cormier and her husband, Bernard; nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
There will be a viewing on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 12:00 – 2:00 pm and from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 9:30 am at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 78 Ridgeway Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
