Helen Grekowski, passed away on September 19, 2021 at her residence at Sunrise of Exton. She was a
former resident of Stroudsburg.
Born in Mayfield, she was the daughter of late John and Mary Ryczak.
She lived most of her life in Stroudsburg and was an active member of St Luke’s Church, serving as
organist for 35 years. She was also a member of St. Luke’s Ladies Craft Guild and the Altar and Rosary
Society at St. Matthews Church in East Stroudsburg. She held various positions with Bell Telephone, the
Visiting Nurse Association and American Heart Association of Monroe County. She was an avid knitter
and enjoyed many crocheted projects. She also enjoyed bowling with the Elks women. She was a very
out-going person who loved to tell jokes. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren.
She will be missed by all who loved her.
Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Walter “Mike” Gretkowski. She is
survived by children; Susan Gretkowski, Lyn Wood (Charles) and Tom Grett (Nancy Miller);
grandchildren, Kelly, Kailyn, Solomon, Jaqueline and Annika; and sisters, Theresa Serniak and Mae Salva.
There will be no public viewing. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday November 17, 11:00 a.m. at St Luke’s
Parish in Stroudsburg.
Interment will be private at the Gates of Heaven, Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
