Guy Schliewenz, Sr. Obituary

Guy W. Schliewenz, Sr., 74, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania died Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Lehigh Valley Hospice House in East Stroudsburg.  He was the loving husband of Joan B Schlliewenz, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he was a son of the late John and Dorothy (Puckett) Schliewenz.

Guy enjoyed bowling in local leagues, most recently at Skylanes in East Stroudsburg. He posted a 299 game on local cable television when he lived in New York State. Joan as a bowling writer arranged for them to be married March 15, 1995, at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, NV. He also developed a love for cruises, taking 28 of them on Royal Caribbean. His at-home passions were watching game shows and playing Free Cell. Guy and Joan were patrons of the State Theatre in Easton, PA, where they enjoyed many concerts including Riverdance and Ron White.

Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Joan B. Schliewenz, formerly Joan Borshard Taylor, East Stroudsburg, his son, Guy W. Schliewenz, Jr. and his wife Marcia, Taylorsville NC, their sons, Aldin and Eliot, his step-family, Derek Taylor, East Stroudsburg, Beth Taylor Mack and her husband James Mack (Simpsonville SC) and their sons Ryan and Jason, along with stepdaughter Elena Goodrum (London, UK) and her husband, Mark Griffiths, his brother, John and his wife Betty (Shallotte, North Carolina), his nieces, Chrissie (Schliewenz) Lewis (Roy), Ocean Isle Beach NC, Carol (Schliewenz) Koprowicz (Steve) Oxford NJ, and great nephews Steven Koprowicz and Danny Lewis and great nieces Elizabeth Lewis and Cassandra Koprowicz.

A Celebration of Guy's life will take place at a later date. Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Bowl4Life Foundation, or the State Theatre.
