Gerard M. (Jerry) Letendre age 85 of Ave Marie, Florida, formerly of East Stroudsburg, PA, passed away peacefully Friday July 10, 2026, at his home in Florida surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Caroline (Ines) Letendre who celebrated their 40th anniversary on July 1st . He was born in Norwich, Connecticut, the son of Adelard and Blandin Letendre.
He was the first of his family to graduate from college, graduating from Providence College with a bachelor’s degree. He was employed as a school teacher for many years in multiple states across the east coast. He resided in East Stroudsburg for 22 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Tannersville, PA. where he was a Eucharistic Minister, Lay Missionary of Charity, and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a Eucharistic Minister at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in New York. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, Caroline, he is survived by his two children Gerard and his wife Mandy of East Stroudsburg, and John-Paul of Clearwater, FL. He is survived, by his three grandchildren Landon, Carolynn, and Chloe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 17, 2026, at 10:30am from St Matthew’s Catholic Church 78 Ridgeway St. East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. Entombment will follow at the Mountainview Mausoleum at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. The family will receive friends on Friday July 17, 2026 from 9:00am until 10:00AM at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home 23 N. 9th. St. Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
