George Irwin Greene of Clark’s Green, passed away on November 18, 2025, surrounded by family, at the age of 87. Born in Newark, NJ, George was the loving husband of the late Linda Greene, and the youngest of 5 children born to the late Isadore and Mary Ann (Doherty) Greene.
George served in the Korean War, and when he returned home he made a career in management of different department Stores such as Almart and Kiddie City. Upon leaving department store management, George started his career at the United States Postal Service in Elizabeth NJ, from where he retired.
Once he retired, George and his wife Linda moved from Dover, NJ to Bushkill, Pa. They enjoyed volunteering at the Bushkill Outreach Food Pantry for many years, as well as spending time and making great memories with the many friends that they made. Connecting with people and telling stories made him who he was, and he enjoyed every minute of it. If you were lucky enough to hear a story of his once, you most likely heard it a thousand times. He cherished friendships, and he was the guy that showed up for everyone and made sure people knew they were thought of.
Family was most important to George, there is nothing he cherished more than the moments he spent with them.
George will be greatly missed by his daughters, Mary Koch, Maureen Benko, Colleen Macasevich and Kelly (Rob) Rodriguez; Step children Douglas (Fernanda) Durosky, Kevin Durosky and Jodi Durosky; Grandchildren Kenneth Koch, Shannon Frantz, Sean Koch, Timothy Wagner, Michael Wagner, Adam Macasevich, Alexa Cabrera, Sydney Kemper and Michael Durosky; 11 Great Grandkids; Sister Marcia Pruneau and Brother Edward Greene. He is predeceased by his wife Linda, sisters Maureen Greene and Dororthy Miller, and grandson Ryan Durosky.
George never wanted to be a bother to anyone, so he has asked that there not be any services … but our ask of you is, if you knew George, then we know you have some great stories to share that will bring a smile or laughter to someone’s face … please take the time to share that story.
Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
