Geoffrey Mehl Obituary

Geoffrey L. Mehl, 79, of Henryville, Pennsylvania died Monday, June 10, 2024, at his home with his wife by his side.  He was the loving husband of Judith K. (Covelli) with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.  Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late George and Mildred (Simpson) Mehl.

Geoffrey was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. Geoff enjoyed native plant gardening as part of sound ecological and sustainable practices. His most recent gardening book was A Gardener’s Guide to Native Plants of Northeastern Pennsylvania. His strong sense of creativity gave him a realm of interests that circulated into his gardening practices, novels and desire to share his inner world with his loved ones. He felt strongly about creating a sanctuary of beauty and contemplation.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his children: Ryan A. Mehl (Sarah) of Corvalis, Oregon; Graham L. Mehl (Melissa) of Laurel, Maryland; a sister Sharon Malec (Wayne) of West Chicago, Illinois and many dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Katharine A. Mehl and sister Susan O’Brien.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 327 Cherry Lane Road, Tannersville, PA 18372.  Private burial will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Joseph J.
