Gabriel J. Kolcun

Gabriel “Gabe” J. Kolcun, 91, of East Stroudsburg, PA passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in the Sacred Heart Senior Living Center in Northampton, PA. He was the widower of Barbara (Smith) Kolcun who died in 2014. Born in East Stroudsburg, PA, he was a son of John and Mary (Kanyak) Kolcun.

Gabe was a lifelong resident of the East Stroudsburg area and was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg. Gabe was a mathematics teacher at Stroudsburg High School for 35 years, retiring in 1994. He was also an Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

Gabe is survived by his children: Stephanie Schultz and her husband, Robert, of Allentown, PA; Gabriel Stephen Kolcun and his wife, Deborah, of East Stroudsburg, PA; Susan Gallagher and her husband, David, of Randolph, VT; grandchildren: Jennifer; Michael; Matthew, great grandchildren: Luis (L.J.); Aubrey; Leo; brother: Joseph Kolcun and his wife, Jennie, of Leesburg, VA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 78 Ridgeway Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. Burial will follow in the Stroudsburg Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 9:00-10:00 am at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th St, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
