Frederick Eugene Culpepper, Jr., 83, of Henryville died peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022. He was the loving husband of Emily Ann (Juan) Culpepper with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Manhattan, NY, son of the late Frederick E. and Encarnaćion (Martinez) Culpepper, Fred was affectionately known as “Lefty” by his friends.
As a teenager he enjoyed spending time at the candy store owned by his parents in Bronx, NY. He joined the United States Navy immediately after graduating high school and was honorably discharged with the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. Fred and Emily married in 1960 in the Bronx and soon after moved to North Bergen, NJ where they raised their four children. Fred was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, where he enjoyed acting in church plays. He spent his career on Wall Street, retiring in 2000 and then settling in the Poconos where he was an active member of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church.
Along with his loving wife, Fred is survived by his sister Estelle Gloria of Babylon, NY; daughter, Diana Lynn of Henryville; sons Frederick Eugene III of Hamilton Township, NJ, and Steven Matthew of Stroudsburg; grandchildren Kayla Michelle and Matthew Joseph; and great grandson, Benjamin Allen. He was preceded in death by his son Allen Christopher, brother Warren Allen, and daughter-in-law Kit (Mui) Culpepper.
Family will receive friends at Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, 327 Cherry Lane Road, Tannersville, PA 18372 on Monday, September 26, 2022 from 10:00-11:00. Mass will be held at 11:00, immediately followed by interment at Prospect Cemetery, 501 Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc. 23 North 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
