Eulalia "Nilda" Sancho

Eulalia “Nilda” Sancho, 91, of Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania passed away Friday, July 21, 2023 at her home. Nilda was born on February 12, 1932, to Benigno and Teresa Alfonso in Havana, Cuba.

While attending university in Cuba where she was studying fashion design, she met and fell in love with her future husband. On November 3, 1951, she married Enrique Sancho. They came to live in United States in 1955 and later became United States Citizens. Nilda and Enrique first settled in Manhattan and then Astoria, New York where they raised their two daughters. Nilda worked for the ILGWU until her retirement. Nilda and Enrique were married 65 years before his passing on May 9, 2017. After her husband’s death, she moved to Monroe County, Pennsylvania where she would spend her remaining years near her children and grandchildren.

Nilda is survived by her children Daisy and Robert Gallagher and Rose and James Miceli and her grandchildren, Scott Gallagher, Lori Gallagher, Paige Miceli and Morgan Miceli, great grandson Colin Gallagher, and loved ones.

She will be laid to rest with her husband at St. Michaels Cemetery in Queens, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her name.
