Eligia Viera Santana

Eligia Viera Santana, 85, of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at her residence with her family by her side.  She was the loving wife of Pedro C. Ayala Castro with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.  Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Ramon and Carlina Santana.

Eligia was a loving mother who dedicated her time to raising her children.  Later, in the United States, she worked in a factory manufacturing purses.

Eligia is survived by her children: Nilsa Morales and her husband, Rodrigo; Jose E. Nunez and his wife, Claribel Lanes; Edgar Ayala and his wife, Carmen Ramirez; Pedro Ayala and his wife, Frances Burgos; siblings: Margarita Viera; Rosa Viera; Sixto Viera Santana; many grandchildren and several grandchildren.

There will be no services at this time. Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 North 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
