Edward Stephen Stys

Edward Stephen Stys, 88 of Monroe County, PA died on April 9, 2022 at Care One Rehabilitation in Morristown, NJ. He is predeceased by his loving wife J. Elaine Stys with whom he shared a beautiful 61 years of marriage. 

Born in Newark, NJ, Edward was the son of the late Pauline & Stephen Stys. He was a parishioner at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brodheadsville, PA.  He also served as a Eucharistic Minister & lecture at St Peter & Paul Church in Great Meadows NJ. Edward owned & operated Edlaine Painters in his earlier years then ESC Real Estate Investments.  Edward served his country in the branch of the US Navy from 1951 – 1955.

He is survived by daughter Cindy Stys Decorges, her husband Guy and grand-daughter Ashlyn, sisters Gloria Surdykowski from Short Hills, NJ and Patricia Stys of East Stroudsburg, PA and a sister-in-law Marylyn Gockeler of Easton, PA and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his sister Theresa Klecha & brother-in-laws Ronald Surdykowski, Frank Klecha, John Gockeler and Thomas Forder.

Our Dear Edward will be very much missed by his family and friends.  He will be remembered for his kindness towards others, especially those less fortunate, his jokes & love of Polkas.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday April 18, 2022 at 10:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 1402 US-209, Brodheadsville, PA 18322. The family will receive family and friends from 9-10:00am at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc. 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
