Edith Alcenta Harris, 78, of Stroudsburg went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Pocono.
Born in Manhattan, New York, she was the daughter of the late George Oliver and Alma Harris.
Edith obtained her PhD from Bank Street College in New York City and operated a private practice as a psychotherapist on Park Avenue for over 20 years. Later, she worked for the board of education providing counseling for children. Edith was a no-nonsense, straight-forward, independent woman who would always tell you like it was, yet always with compassion. She was an avid world traveler and reveled in many different cultures in her lifetime. Edith was strong in her faith and an active member of Faith International Church in East Stroudsburg where she served as head of Christian Council Ministry and an Elder. You could often find Edith out with her “Seen-ager” (senior) group of friends enjoying a meal. She loved children and watching them grow and thrive intellectually and spiritually. She will truly be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her son, Keith Watson and his wife, Carol Ann, of Tobyhanna; grandchildren: Nobel and Christian, and her entire church family.
There will be a viewing on Friday, September 23 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Faith International Church, 530 Seven Bridge Road, East Stroudsburg, 18301. A celebration of life will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Cemetery, 1897 US-209, Brodheadsville, PA 18360.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 North 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
