Dorothy Selma Coman, 86, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania died Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Lehigh Valley Hospice House in East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of the late Frank Coman, Sr. with whom she shared 34 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1999. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Frederic and Hazel Shimanski.
Dorothy enjoyed watching NASCAR as her late husband was a former racecar driver. She loved animals and had worked at dog shelters in New Jersey along with other jobs as a crossing guard and cook at Burger Kings in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Roberta Weaver and her husband, Warren; James Gallagher and his wife, Robin; Frank Coman, Jr; Charlie Coman; Emma St-Cyr and her husband, Barry; Linda Gallagher; Donna Heightman; 20+ grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her children: Gerald Coman; Debbie Micheletti; Timothy Gallagher; son-in-law: Fred Heightman and daughter-in-law: Elaine Coman.
Burial will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, New Jersey. Private cremation was entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Memorial donations can be made in Dorothy’s name to the Monroe County Hospice House.
