Claire M. Parker

Claire Ann McGuire Parker, 93, of Stroudsburg, PA passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Northampton Post Acute Skilled Nursing Facility in Easton, PA.

She shared 59 years of marriage with her loving husband John H. Parker Sr (Jack).

Claire was born in 1930 to Eva G. Thomas (McGuire) and Vincent J. McGuire.

She graduated High School and then achieved her nursing degree from the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She worked at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City prior to her marriage.

In her early years of marriage, she worked part time for a family doctor in Stroudsburg, but quickly transitioned to the role of housewife and mother. These were her most important roles in her life at which she excelled.

Claire was also a very active member of the community. She spent many hours volunteering for the Red Cross at blood banks, she was a member and past president of the Pocono Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, and she volunteered at Echo, a store in Stroudsburg run by Women’s Resources of Monroe County.

She was an avid republican and along with her husband Jack they campaigned for several local republican political candidates. She continued to be active in the republican party following her husband’s death.

Claire loved dogs and raised, bred, showed and judged Irish Wolfhounds as well as Dandie Dinmont Terriers. She was a member of the Delaware Valley Irish Wolfhound Club, Pocono Kennel Club, and Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church.

Claire was predeceased by her husband Jack, and her son John. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Bunnelle and her husband Paul of Fairfield, NY, her daughter-in-law Mary Louise Parker of Sciota, PA, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great, great granddaughter.

A memorial service and visitation with the family will be held at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home at 23 N. Ninth St Stroudsburg PA on April 30, 2023. Visitation will be between 2:30pm and 4:30pm with a memorial service at 4pm.
