Charles Edward Ortiz

Charles E. Ortiz, 65, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the Veteran Hospital in Wilkes Barre, PA. He was the loving husband of Elaine (Maldonado) Ortiz with whom he celebrated 36 years of marriage in June. Born in Queens, New York, he was the son of Carlos and Blanca (Medina) Ortiz.

Charles attended the University of Pennsylvania as a freshman, after which he joined the United States Coast Guard. He served there for six years, reaching the rank of quartermaster second class before he was honorably discharged. Following his military service, Charles was employed as an investment banker for 25 years while living in New York City, and later became an ordained minister at Faith International Church in Bushkill, PA. Recently, he founded and pastored Go Church of Stroudsburg, PA.

Charles was a loving, and devoted husband, and father, and a friend to all who knew him. Charles is survived by his wife Elaine, and his children; Sharon Ortiz, Raquel Ortiz-Uberti and her husband Brian Charles, Abigail Ortiz, Stephen Ortiz, and Jael Ortiz, all of Stroudsburg, PA. Charles also leaves behind 2 grandchildren, JeAnna and Israel, and 2 siblings, Dr. Joseph D. Ortiz and Dr. Betty-Ann Conde.

A viewing will be held from 6-7 PM on  Thursday Oct. 5, 2023, followed by a  funeral service at 7:00 PM, at Faith International Church, 530 Seven Bridge Rd. East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.  Graveside services and burial with full military honors will follow on Friday October 6, 2023, at 9:30 AM at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
