Charles W. “Charlie” Courtney, 67, of Pocono Summit, Pennsylvania formerly of Westwood, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at his residence with his loving family by his side. Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Hugh and Annabelle Courtney.
Charlie lived in the Poconos for over 40 years, where he loved to help people in his community. Whether he was helping someone with lawn work or assisting with plumbing emergencies, he was always there to lend a helping hand expecting nothing in return. Charlie was a hard worker and worked for several plumbing companies throughout his career as well as some private work. In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed playing softball, fishing, camping and bowling, having scored a perfect 300.
Charles is survived by his siblings: Katherine Cohen and her husband, Bert; Michael Courtney and his wife, Kathy; Thomas Courtney and his wife, Maria; Lisa Courtney; son: Charles Courtney, Jr; grandson, Mason Courtney; former wife and dear friend, Catherine “Kitty” Courtney; many nieces and nephews; his faithful and beloved dog: Bella, and many very special friends.
A memorial service will take place at a later date. Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. In lieu of flowers, family asks that memorial donations be made in Charlie’s honor to TOMEC Food Pantry, 133 Firehouse Road, Suite B, Pocono Pines, PA 18350.
