Carol Ann Bayer Obituary

Carol Ann Canova Bayer, 88, of Stroudsburg, PA, passed peacefully on January 24, 2026.
Born July 1, 1937, in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Helen Louise
Bennett and Remo Canova of Lyndhurst, NJ. Carol and her husband, Howard, lived in
Rockaway, Mount Arlington, and Jefferson, New Jersey, and most notably in their family home
in Columbia, NJ. Following retirement, they moved to Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania.

For the past ten years, Carol lived with her daughter Cheryl and son-in-law Steve, and also spent
time in Columbia, NJ, with her beloved granddaughter Stephanie Goodlow, who lovingly helped
care for her as dementia gradually took away her independence.

Carol was employed for many years as a school bus driver for Knowlton and Blairstown
Townships and later worked at the Blairstown Pharmacy, where she was affectionately known as
“Dusty.” She was deeply involved with the Knowlton United Methodist Church before moving
to Stroudsburg, singing in the choir, and was always willing to help wherever needed.
She enjoyed sharing breakfast, lunch, or dinner with friends and family and remained active in
the area until it was no longer safe for her to drive. Carol loved traveling and visiting family and
friends, including a church trip to Germany with a group from Portland, PA, and attending her
godson’s wedding in England in 2014.

Carol was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Howard Bayer; her brother, Douglas Canova,
and his wife Martha; her sister-in-law Josephine Canova; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law
from her husband’s family.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Bayer and his wife Linda; her daughter, Cheryl Teke and her
husband Steve; her granddaughter, Stephanie Goodlow; her grandsons, Kyle Bayer and his wife
Denise, and Conner Bayer and his wife Andie; her brother, Remo Canova; her godson, Brian
Canova and his wife Amy; nephews Steven Canova and Matthew Canova and his wife Larisa;
nieces Christine Chrysoulakis and her husband Manny, and Emily Klatt and her husband
Andrew; and many loving family members.

Carol will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was a great mother and a cherished
grandmother, whose love and kindness will always be remembered.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the home of her daughter at a later date.
