Candace Victoria McCoy, 38, of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania died Thursday, January 15, 2026, in Pocono Summit, Pennsylvania. Born in Okinawa, Japan, she was a daughter to James McCoy of Scranton, Pennsylvania and the late Norma Faye McCoy.
Candace grew up in Japan where she learned the native language, along with Korean and Spanish languages. She was very articulate and knowledgeable in many areas. Candace loved God and knew the Lord. She enjoyed working with young adults in youth ministries both in Okinawa and later in Laurel, Maryland. She was an avid reader, having read over 2,000 books in her lifetime, with history being her favorite. She also enjoyed crocheting in her spare time. Above all, Candace cherished God and her daughter.
Candace is survived by her daughter: Mhaleya Luna-Fay McCoy; her father: James McCoy and his fiancé, Brenda Young; siblings: Tara Chanell McCoy; James McCoy; Toussaint Dupree; and many dear friends.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Private cremation has been entrusted to the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
