Bernice Amador Obituary

Bernice C. Amador, affectionately known as Bunny, 94, of Bronx, New York, passed into eternal rest on October 11, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital – in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Born in Brooklyn to the late James Williams and Mary Elizabeth Williams, Bunny was the cherished wife of Juan R. Amador, whom she lovingly called John, sharing 69 years of a marriage woven with devotion, laughter, and unbreakable love.

Bunny was the heart and soul of her family, a radiant beacon whose fierce love guided her children—Bernadine Vasquez, Robert Counts (Karen), Anthony Vasquez (Joanne), Deborah Wellington, William Periche, Jaunita Felice (Edwin), Bernice Amador, Esther Rondon, Juan Amador Jr. (Joanne), Bernard Amador, Mary Pazienza (Joseph), Shawn Vasquez (Mayra), and Samantha Amador. Her love extended to her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each blessed with a special nickname that carried her warmth and affection. Her children adored her, their bond a testament to a love that no trial could diminish. Bunny’s selflessness knew no bounds; she poured her heart into ensuring her family felt safe, cherished, and loved.

As a home health aide, Bunny’s compassion touched countless lives. Her radiant smile could light up the darkest room, and her heartfelt “thank you” was a gift of gratitude that lifted those around her. Her faith was her cornerstone—she loved serving the Lord and found solace in the pages of her Bible, her joy a blessing to all who knew her. Bunny’s wit sparkled with her signature phrase, “My name is Bunny, but I’m being Frank,” a reflection of her honesty and fiery spirit that left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Even in her final days, Bunny remained fully herself, her mind sharp and her spirit unbroken—a gift we will forever treasure. Her laughter, love, and wisdom will echo in our hearts eternally. She was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Karszewski, Anne Dilworth, Helen Williams, Bernadine Ismail, and Walter Williams. Bunny leaves behind her devoted husband, Juan, her beloved children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a community forever touched by her boundless warmth. Honoring her wishes, we will care for her beloved John with the same love she gave so freely.

A funeral service to celebrate Bunny’s extraordinary life will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360, with visitation beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Buena Vista Cemetery, 1915 US-209, Brodheadsville, PA 18322.

Rest in peace, Mommy. Your love was our anchor, your laughter our joy, and your spirit our guiding star. We love you beyond measure, miss you with an ache that words cannot capture, and find comfort knowing you are watching over us, forever wrapped in eternal love.
