Beatrix "Rikki" Brodman

Beatrix “Rikki” Brodman of Stroudsburg, PA passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, she was the only daughter of Justine and Frederick Jacobi. She was also the widow of Bruce W. Brodman, her beloved husband, who passed away in 2010 after 33 years of marriage.

Rikki was a merit scholarship student and graduated from the Philadelphia Museum College of Art, now known as the University of Arts, with a BA degree in Illustration. She furthered her education at Temple University, St. Miguel de Allende Art Institute in Mexico and the Sorbonne University in France.

Rikki worked for Raymond Lowey (father of industrial design) in New York City as a graphic designer for several years and later became a free-lance illustrator for clients such as Seventeen, Redbook, Ladies Home Journal, TV Guide, L’Oreal and Revlon and several advertising agencies and art studios in New York City.

Rikki enjoyed traveling, especially abroad. For a year she lived in Florence, Italy working at a hotel gift shop. It was there that she developed an affinity and love for working with the public. She returned to Philadelphia where she became the rental manager of two luxury apartment buildings in Center City.

During this period she met and married Bruce Brodman. A  job transfer relocated them to Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania in 1977 where they built their home. There they raised three sons and several cats.  It was in Stroudsburg where Rikki found her favorite career as a circulation manager for the Eastern Monroe Public Library, retiring after 25 years of public service. Rikki also served on the Eastern Monroe Public Library board and volunteered with the Pocono Arts Council and Lehigh Valley-Pocono Hospital.

Rikki is survived by three sons: Andrew Brodman of Cherry Hill, NJ; Todd Brodman of Voorhees, NJ; and Brandon Brodman and his wife, Lisa, and their children: Harrison and Natalie, of Stroudsburg, PA. In addition, she is survived by her cat, Tigger, and many loving friends and caregivers. The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Douglas Degler for his exceptional care and compassion.

Rikki will be remembered as a talented artist, an avid reader and a passionate shopper with an unbeatable eye for the unique. Her sense of style and eclectic taste brought color, character, and an inspiration to everything she touched. The world is a little less bright without her but richer for having known her.

A private family burial will be held at Laurelwood Cemetery. To honor Rikki’s love for animal rescue, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to: PAWS (Pocono Animal Welfare Society), PO Box 787, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
