Alvan Morse

Alvan “Skinner” Morse, 93, of East Stroudsburg PA passed away on April 22, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Pellett) Morse, whom he was married to for 70 years.

Alvan was born on October 22, 1927 in Bloomingdale, New Jersey to the late Beulah (Utter) Morse and the late Walter Morse. Alvan was a resident of East Stroudsburg for 31 years. He worked as a carpenter for most of his life.

Alvan was stationed as a medic in Hawaii during World War II. He was employed by Don Tintle Construction and Kithcart Construction before eventually retiring as a machinist from Marvel Manufacturing. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling with his wife, and playing cards with his friends.

Along with his parents Alvan was predeceased by his siblings; Harold Morse, Roy Morse, Walter Morse, Jr., Doris (Morse) Struble, Rosella (Morse) Sisco, and Clara Morse.

In addition to his wife Joan, Alvan is survived by three children; Bruce Morse (and wife Jane) of West Milford, NJ, Lynn (Morse) Sentner of Cromwell, CT, and Jay Morse (and wife Vicky) of East Stroudsburg, PA; six grandchildren; Janelle Morse, Scott Morse (and wife Bernadette), Suzanne Sentner, Kimberly (Sentner) Houston (and husband Allen Houston), Jody Morse, and Jayme Morse, as well as two great-grandchildren Imogen Houston and Sylvie Houston.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1,2021 at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc. 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. The family will receive friends from 12-1pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the National Veteran’s Foundation.
