Allen O. Opiyo, 21, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Bangor, Pennsylvania. Born in Kenya, he was a beloved son of Tom Opiyo and Catherine Mubichi.
Allen came to the United States in 2016. He was a student at Temple University majoring in Engineering Technology. Allen was very intelligent, had big dreams, and an unwavering determination to make a positive impact in the world. A source of light and joy, his vibrant spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a loyal friend, always ready to lend an ear or to share a smile. Allen was a cherished son, brother, cousin, and friend to many and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his brother, Alex Opiyo; stepbrother, Terence Opiyo; stepfather, Elvis Cruz; cousins: Harvey, Kinyua, Harrison, Wallace, Maryanne, Warren; grandmother, Jennifer; aunties: Yvonne, Irene, Cynthia; uncles: Ken, Paul; and many other cousins, aunties, and uncles in Kenya along with many cherished friends.
A viewing will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. A funeral service will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the Light of the World Church, 114 Academy Drive, Minisink Hills, PA 18341. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Stroudsburg Cemetery.
