Alfreda Kolcz, 89, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania died Monday, August 19, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Pocono in East Stroudsburg. She was the loving wife of the late Jan Kolcz with whom she shared 43 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2001. Born in Budziwoj, Poland, she was a daughter of the late Josef and Maria Poludniak.
Alfreda was a member of the Church of St. Luke in Stroudsburg. She was a resident of the Stroudsburg area since 1995 and prior to that of Ozone Park, Queens in New York. Prior to retirement, she worked as a seamstress in the garment industry. Alfreda enjoyed trying her luck at the casinos with her daughters and her Saturday lunches with her family.
She is survived by her daughters: Ewa Morgan and her husband, Bruce, of Stroudsburg; Barbara Kolcz of Stroudsburg; grandchildren: Robert “Robby” Morgan and his wife, Heather, of Braidwood, IL; Christopher Morgan and his wife, Jillian, of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; great grandchildren: Paisley Morgan; Carter Morgan; her sister Aleksandra Piatek from Poland, and many beloved friends, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Stefan Poludniak and son-in-law Edward Sosna.
There will be a viewing on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 4 – 7 PM at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Father Michael Quinnan will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10 AM at the Church of St. Luke, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Family will receive friends from 9 AM to the time of service. Entombment will follow in the Mountain View Mausoleum at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Church of St. Luke in her memory.
